A 12-person panel was polled on a variety of TVC topics. All were asked to rank the TVC before week one of the regular season. Here’s how it shook out.
1: Athens 79 (7)
The defending champs are the preseason favorites in the WXTQ poll. The poll believes that Joey Moore will be the next in a line of great Bulldog quarterbacks to lift the Doc Kroner trophy
2: Nelsonville-York 75 (5)
The Buckeyes just get edged out by the Bulldogs. Keegan Willburn is back with a vengeance entering his senior season. An improved Mikey Seel looks to add a bigger ariel attack to the Buckeyes game this fall.
3: Vinton County 55
There is a different feeling in the air in McArthur. There are high hopes for the 2019 edition of the Vikings under coach Travis Bethel. If Braylon Damron improves and Elijah Williams emerges as a target expect big results from the Vikings.
4: Meigs 50
Coulter Cleland guides the offense for his sophomore season and looks to continue to put up numbers. With many weapons gone to either graduation or transfer, Meigs will spend more time on the ground. Aby Lundy will be a name to remember.
5: Wellston 31
Mike Smith begins his tenure as Wellston's head coach. He has two great weapons in Rylan Molihan and Jonathon Garvin. The Golden Rocket’s also return signal caller R.J. Kemp.
6: Alexander 30
Earich Dean enters year three with the only quarterback he’s ever known, Kaleb Easley. The do-it-all senior will look to be all over for the field for the Spartans as they look to get above 500.
7.) River Valley 13
After a winless season in conference play, the Raiders are looking to retool and rebuild. They have a once highly touted senior class coming through. Coach Jason Peck will look for them to recapture the magic of their youth.
